Tom Hodge is a composer, pianist and clarinetist from London. Through his various collaborations with artists including Max Cooper, Floex, and Franz Kirmann, he pushes the boundaries of experimental contemporary classical, jazz and electronic crossover.

Tom's recent work includes A Portrait of John Doe, an album collaboration with electronic musician and producer Floex and The Man Behind The Microphone OST, written with franz kirmann. Most recently, he has contributed an orchestral rework of jon hopkins’ vessels to wayne mcgregor’s collaboration, out 9th september.

After composing the score for ‘The Man Behind The Microphone’, Tom and his long-time collaborator Franz Kirmann decided to make some music purely for the love of it. ‘Three Reasons Why’ is one of those tracks.

Having spent a little time together a while back, Tom and Eivør had an intense time creating some ideas together. Nothing Less Nothing More is one of the fruits of that session, and is out now on 1631 Recordings along with an excellent remix from Days Of Being Wild.

Tom says - “I was actually recording some clarinet for another project when the inspiration struck to make a little piano version of Wednesday (Is The New Friday). So I pushed the ribbon mics I was using over to my Eavestaff MiniRoyal piano and started recording - not advisable if you want any top end or subsequent control over noise! But at least it captured a moment.”

FLOEX & TOM HODGE, JOHN DOE ARISE (LIVE IN PRAGUE)

If you missed the recent tour of the Czech Republic, have no fear, for Floex and Tom have released ‘John Doe Arise (Live In Prague)’, featuring four tracks from A Portrait of John Doe recorded live with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and singer Kim Sheehan. THE MAN BEHIND THE MICROPHONE OST

Tom and Franz Kirmann have composed the original soundtrack for The Man Behind The Microphone, a portrait of Hedi Jouini, known as the “Frank Sinatra of Tunisia”. After the premiere of ‘The Man Behind the Microphone Pt. 1’ and ‘Ghost of My Grandfather’ the full soundtrack is now available to stream and download everywhere through 1631 Recordings.

Tom recently joined forces with long-time collaborator Franz Kirmann to score the prestige eight-part BBC / AMC drama McMafia. On the music, co-writer Hossein Amini said "Tom and Franz have brought a truly original and distinctive voice to the series, mixing tension, emotion, violence and tenderness in a bold, mesmeric score."
